Day 3 - The Olympics and Chocolate

The next day we headed out for another adventure to hike in the Partnach Gorge. We took the bus to the old Olympic Stadium (from 1936) and walked to the foot of the trail. It was a lovely walk through a winding road in the countryside, but around a mile from the bus stop. The kids were already done by the time we reached the trail head, and I was getting a little worried about how to feed Harry since all the restaurants and shops along the way were closed for the season and it was just about freezing out. So once we got there we decided to turn around and go and grab some lunch in Partenkirchen, the other half of Garmisch.  We stopped for a few pictures first.

proof Harry was there - cozy and warm and snoozing away!

And some silly ones by the ski jump:

Of course once we got to Partenkirchen we realized we were between lunch and dinner time and none of the restaurants were open. We wandered a bit, had some yummy hot chocolate, and discovered an awesome chocolate store where the kids picked out a few treats.

Harry cracks me up in these pictures since he was totally chill, but apparently couldn't see half the time...

Oscar is holding the infamous wrench - a beautiful piece of chocolate he was SO excited for then dropped. It broke in half but he was so upset (although trying to keep it in) Dada got him another one. When we opened it to try, it was dark chocolate! He picked out another treat (see below....)
