3 months old

After a week off, I headed back to work. Having never worked with a baby before, let's just say it's not fun. He's wonderful with our housekeeper, easily takes bottles, and is always happy when I get home but it's just not easy to leave a little one at home… I cried the first week to and from work, and have settled into a "dealing with it" phase. I'm working part time now and have no plan to increase my hours. We'll see what the next few months bring!

I've been posing Harry with his Portland Panda every 4 weeks, but then realized I should really be doing monthly. So here he is at 12 weeks:

And lots of snuggle time:

Who's having more fun?

Our Odyssey Home

I almost don't want to relive our trip back to Nairobi, but since it was our worst travel experience ever it's worth noting for posterity. What should've been a palatable 30 hour trip, turned into a 64 hour adventure in everything that could possibly go wrong…. Oscar had his own issues traveling back a few weeks earlier, with lost bags and delayed flights, so we assumed the bad luck was over. Ha!

To sum up as best I can, we were delayed for weather in Chicago, spent 5 hours on the tarmac and then couldn't refuel since there were no gates to park at. With not enough fuel to fly all the way to London they decided to get us in the air and as close to London as they could. Livi had a horrible headache when we finally left Chicago (5 hours after we were supposed to) and cried herself to sleep but actually got the best sleep for any of us (aside from Harry) for the overnight flight. We ended up landing in Shannon, Ireland (the closest airport to the Atlantic…not sure if that was a  fuel or crew time out issue!) and hung out at the airport for a day while we waited for a new plane to pick us up. Oscar threw up on the plane to London (man those bags come in handy), and by the powers that be we finally had some good luck when we arrived at Heathrow. They put us up in the Sofitel for the night connected to the airport where the kids were in heaven and we all slept soundly. 15 hours later we were back at Heathrow and miraculously made it to Nairobi without incident. Oscar picked us up at the airport and we finally made it home. Harry was a champ throughout and thank goodness he wasn't at the stage of really wanting to move yet. The only good thing about traveling alone with 3 kids is that everyone thinks your crazy and takes pity on you so you get to cut through lots of lines!

Of course, once we were all reunited there were plenty of snuggles to go around:

Summer in Buffalo

We were sad to leave London, but looking forward to introducing Harry to the Buffalo crowd. I'll let the pictures do the talking since I'm typing one handed with a sleeping baby I don't want to put down:

For our last visit to Gigi's house, she surprised us by inviting Uncle Bobby, Sam, Uncle Norbie, Aunt Cass, and Aunt Mary. It was a great visit and Harry smiled for everyone.
