The Birthday Girl

Livi's party was the Saturday after her birthday. She invited about 8 girls and requested a home party again. We kept it simple with a little craft, treasure hunt, pin the paw on the puppy, and some mentos bombs! One of our neighbor's friends made some beautiful cookies for party favors. Livi and Oscar were thrilled since they actually tasted as good as they looked (most fancy cookies around here are less than tasty):

Livi LOVES decorating her own cake

We set up an area in the yard for photos with some props. We tested out the area first, and they both really got into it.

Oscar took off a layer for each picture...

And then the friends arrived!

I actually like the washed out look we got from shooting into the sun as the afternoon went on:

I'd just planned on just taking pictures with my camera and sending them to the parents, but our neighbor Marissa was helping out at the party and had a polaroid camera. She offered to take some shots of the girls so they could each take one home, which worked perfectly with our craft:

8

Our wonderful, energetic, loving Olivia is 8! Her birthday kicked off with a day off from school and a morning home with mommy. We did our nails, hair, and got a little bit fancy to go out to lunch with Dada.
presents under the Mardi Gras tree

We let her open 1 present in the morning before Oscar left for school. She picked one that was a sewing kit and dove right into a project:
Livi has been watching a lot of youtube lately of kids showing crafts and makeup that they do. I think they were the inspiration for the video she wanted to make:

Kitty is complete and joined us for lunch
Next up was lunch at her favorite little place, Le Papillon. They got the hot tub ready for her, and she even took a dip in the freezing cold pool!

Oscar was at school, so we opened the rest of her presents when he and Dada got home and ordered Dominos for dinner as per Livi's request. We topped off the evening with an ice cream cake from Coldstone:

We went through the questions for her birthday video, but haven't taped the answers yet. Hope to do that this week!

The boys

Livi and Dragon and definitely attached at the hip, but when Livi's not around Harry takes over. Dragon has learned that anytime Harry is in his highchair, good things will come to him. Harry is still learning that when he puts food out to Dragon nothing will be left for him... They both love to be outside and we spend a lot of time hanging on the front patio in the shade.

They do tend to share toys sometimes....

Harry has also discovered wheels:

And just loves his big brother:
