A Very Merry Christmas

I'm watching the kids playing together with their new Laugh and Learn home from Nana and Papa and it's so cute! Oscar plays on one side and Olivia the other and Oscar calls out "Hey neighbor!" Olivia's favorite part is of course the door, She opens and closes it over and over again, one of her favorite past times with any door in the house. She gets a huge kick out of peek-a-boo around the door too. She also loves the music that comes on, and for all of our musical toys (the cute elephant piano from Jenny and the cool "Life is a Highway" car from Missy and Tommy) she'll bounce, swing her arms, and bob her head to the music - smiling of course the whole time. Needless to say Christmas was a success! I haven't even mentioned the non-electronic toys! Where to begin...
As usual, Olivia and I were up early in the morning, and she had a ball finally getting a chance to inspect the presents and try out her Rody. She did try to get a few opened, but was easily distracted by the lights and ornaments!

Oscar slept in (after waking up at 6 am from the past 2 weeks) until about 8, but promptly made up time by barely breathing the second he got upstairs. He got a bit overwhelmed after his stocking, torn between his new power drill and the pile of presents still under the tree. He quickly recovered through and plowed through them, strategically avoiding presents that appeared to be clothes. He even allowed Olivia to open those! :) What I've been most impressed about is how he's cycled through all of his presents since christmas morning. He had a few favorites intially, but throughout the course of the weekend, he's been taking stock of all the new stuff and has been playing with everything (including Olivia's).
We somehow managed to drag Oscar away from his toys and drove into the city to see the tree. Traffic was pretty decent, although the streets were crowded with pedestrians as usual. Big Oscar and I were excited to take the kids to see the tree in Rockefeller Center, but the big hit with little Oscar was M&M world. Oscar was in heaven, esp when he got to chose his own color of M&Ms - blue of course! He was then "done" and we headed home...1.5 hours after arrival :). A wonderful memorable day.

Some fun Oscar-isms from the weekend:
-After opening the first electric drill, he excitedly said "I was thinking about getting one of those!"
-"Let's play screw!" (Translates to "Lets play with my drills.")
-"Do you think that tree is as big as our tree at home?" Upon seeing the Rockefeller center tree.
-"I want to go to M&M world!!!" A chant heard during our short 5-min walk from Rockefeller center to M&M world.

Olivia's in "puppy sprint" mode, and although she's a little on the slow side still she'll be running through the house soon. She spends lots of time just walking back and forth throughout the house, picking up various things along the way. Sometimes cheerios to eat, sometimes pieces of paper to eat....sometimes articles of clothing. She spent half an hour the other day walking back and forth throughout the house putting a shirt on her head and then taking it off. A kind of independent peek-a-boo game!
I know there is so much more but the boys are causing mischief downstairs and need to be settled down before they wake up Olivia...til later! Happy New Year!
