Pre-Christmas festivities

The weekend after Thanksgiving, we kicked off the holiday season with a gathering at a friends house. We made paper snowflakes (like the one hanging in the photo) and couldn't resist a family photo with a  winter scene backdrop.

In mid-December, Oscar had the awesome opportunity to travel to Israel for work. There ended up being very little work, and he enjoyed being a tourist in a fabulous place, rich in history...

where Jesus was born in the Church of the Nativity

While dada was away, the kids and I kept busy with the usual Christmas preparations…. Cookies were made, decorations were hung, and we made a special Advent wreath at Oscar's school (he let me take "1" picture).

Oscar arrived home a few days than originally planned (yeah!) and we split parental duties for the kids' holiday concerts. I went to Oscar's concert and watched him channel his Dada with shadow puppets while the other kids were performing. He settled down for his portion of the performance, and played beautifully on the pentatonic flute!

getting ready to perform, can't you just feel the excitement?

While Oscar was fluting away, Livi was performing a dance and song for Dada. It was a Friday, so she's in her Saints attire!

The quality of the video is horrible, but I can't get it right…hoping to redo it for posterity soon…
