Dada was unfortunately still away for New Years, but the kids and I went to a party of one of the kids in Oscar's class. The kids had a ball, running around their huge yard with glow sticks and writing out wishes for the new year and throwing them into the bonfire. We rang in the new year around 9pm, with a champagne and sparkling cider toast. Fireworks were going off sporadically all through the evening, and one of the dads even set off a few bottle rockets in the street (much to the mom's chagrin!).
We were home about 10pm, and Livi promptly fell asleep on the couch. Oscar was determined to last until 12 though and we rang in the NY new year at 11pm, toasting with prosecco and Fanta and calling Dada in Boston. Oscar made it to midnight in New Orleans, although a little less enthusiastically and we went right to bed. The fireworks continued to go off for at least an hour after midnight and I found yet another way that New Orleans reminds me of India!
