We have not embraced our theme this week as much as last in terms of arts and crafts, but we've had some great outings! Monday we headed to the library to pick out new animal books, and checked out lots of insects on the way to the playground afterward (esp. bees in the clover). Yesterday, Mary Beth and her boys came into town and we met up at the Natural History Museum's Discovery Room. Lots of meandering was done, and we took a side trip to see the White House and explore along the way. We finally made it to the Discovery Room and the kids had a great time (although I think both mom's were pooped!).

Today, we took an animal week detour for some Georgetown cupcakes. While Livi was not impressed with the frosting, she did find happiness in some sprinkles. Oscar did not enjoy the carrot cake (his first choice) but was quite pleased with the chocolate one. While perhaps not worth a trip just for cupcakes, a very good stop if we're that way again! The rain put a mild damper on the adventures the past few days in terms of visiting playgrounds, but all the kids were happy and Livi slept the whole way home both times (even with the loud metros!).
