A mellow weekend

Both kiddos love Fridays, and my homebodies were pretty excited to have a weekend ahead of us without any set plans. We started off with a walk to our local voting place to cast our vote in support of the New Orleans libraries. Our polling place is actually a local school with a pretty nice playground, so the kids enjoyed some dangling fun after doing our civic duty.

Next up for our mellow weekend was a trip to the library, followed by some ice cream at The Creole Creamery - mint chocolate chip in waffle comes with sprinkles all around!

Sunday morning started off with a homemade lemonade session on the front porch…Livi's first batch had a little dirt floating in it, but the second one was quite lovely.

We continued our mellow weekend with an afternoon outing to the zoo. Livi tried the new ropes course on the kiddie course (2 feet off the ground), and Oscar and I decided to wait and do the big ropes course together while Livi was at school. Looks like I'll be testing my fear of heights yet again!

We ran into one of Livi's friends at the zoo, and brought her home with us for an impromptu playdate. While the girls were running around outside, Oscar and Nelson took their usual position on the couch playing iPad. We topped off the weekend with dinner at Slice. A lovely weekend that included many of the things that we love about New Orleans…the only thing missing was Dada!
