A few more butterflies emerged over the past week, and we have one chrysalis left. Livi fortunately got to be a part of the experience last weekend. After we spotted a few lizards lingering around our friend, Oscar decided to keep guard while she dried her wings in preparation to fly.

For the break, I planned a bunch of field trips to keep us entertained and soak in the awesome weather (70's and no humidity!!!) - the zoo, playgrounds, play dates, a pumpkin patch. Unfortuantely, everyone got sick instead! Livi was first, and she surprised us all with a fever mid day on Monday. The kids had been running around and playing all morning, and we didn't even know she was sick until I gave her a hug and felt how warm her body was. She stopped moving long enough to take some tylenol, and then enjoyed sitting on the front porch with a popsicle, telling all the neighbors that walked by that she had a 102.5 degree fever. We laid low Tuesday and decided to hit City park on Wednesday once Livi was fever free. It was a beautiful day to be at the playground, and we also visited Morning Call for beignets and the sculpture park.

We left the park exhausted, including me! I wasn't feeling well the next day so we bought ourselves another day at home. Baking carrot muffins and painting projects were in order, and the kids rediscovered the Mardi Gras beads hanging in our tree. They spent a good chunk of the afternoon working together to get them down and divide them up. Sure enough little Oscar was up next. He always seems to get sick after Livi, and gets hit harder. He woke up with a 102.9 fever last night, which had even me a little on edge. It fortunately came down with Tylenol, and we've bought ourselves another day of snuggling on the couch.
Our fall break was not quite the action-packed field trip filled week we planned, but it has been nice to spend some snuggly time with the kiddos. We're supposed to go camping this weekend by the beach in FL… Fingers crossed Oscar's on the mend and Dada is in the clear so we can go ahead as planned!
