August and September have been peppered with birthday parties. Almost every weekend we've had one, and sometimes more (we really don't know that many people, everyone just seems to have fall birthdays!) The season kicked off with our good friends Chloe's 5th birthday. A classic backyard party with lots of fun and games, which personally beat out the second birthday party that weekend at Chuck e' Cheese. Although I'm not ready to test that choice with our kiddos yet….

| Liv's favorite Chuck e'Cheese game at the second birthday party of the weekend. The kids had a ball (ha ha) but I'm pretty sure all the parents went home with headaches |
Birthday parties aside, the kids are also in full gear at school. Livi continues to love her class, and is now teaching me some French with pride. (We learned to count to 20 yesterday.) She also has not forgotten her first love, and announced after his birthday party (the Chuck e'Cheese one) that Benjamin is still her boyfriend and she will marry him when she's older. She just wanted to make sure we hadn't forgotten.
Oscar in also continuing to enjoy his homeschooling time. To complete our unit on Ancient Greece, we held the Grajales Family Olympics. The running race was cancelled due to a guest appearance by Zeus, but we were able to hold the long jump, wrestling, and javelin throw inside. Our evening was complete with a medal ceremony and presiding goddess (who also won a gold medal in wrestling):

Speaking of goddesses, we also watched Clash of the Titans one night as part of Ancient Greece fun. Little Oscar really didn't like it, but Livi fell in love….with Andromeda. It didn't seem to bother her than she was to be sacrificed to the Kraken and she's spent the past few weeks re-enacting her favorite scenes from the movie. There's a lot of dress up with long flowy outfits, and dramatic walking up and down the stairs. Bath time is even involved, and our step stool is perfect for her to dramatically enter and exit the bath, since Andromeda gets out of the bath right before she gets all dressed up to be sacrificed to the Kraken. She also wants to be her for Halloween, but since this is her third choice in the past few months, we'll see if it has the power to last through October. The good thing is that her costume would be really easy!
A parting shot from a family trip to the zoo one random Sunday in August. Love the Audubon zoo!
