Turkey Day in Austin

We spent an awesome week in Austin for Thanksgiving. We originally planned a camping trip on the way, with a mini "Tour de Texas" for Oscar, but the weather was completely uncooperative. We decided to scratch the trip  but not until after buying all of the equipment!

Even though we scrapped the camping trip, we decided to surprise Nana and Papa and drove in on Saturday. Little Oscar rang the doorbell, and the rest of us hid behind the bushes. An extremely surprised Nana and Papa answered the door and Oscar couldn't stop bouncing with excitement!

The weather was unseasonable cold, and it truly felt like the holidays. We haven't been to Austin in the cooler weather in years, and Livi was surprised that is was too cold to go in the pool! Fortunately, the hot tub was a big hit as always. I forgot their bathing suits, so they had a blast going "nudie" and challenging themselves to walk around the pool and even put their feet in the freezing cold water!

I think it was in the 40s that day.
We got to see Jenny's gorgeous new apartment in downtown Austin, and Claire and Evan flew in to top off the holiday weekend. The kids had so much fun seeing everyone, and Livi and Charlie got along famously (well, mostly :) Nana and Papa also got their tree and Harry had lots of fun redecorating it!

One day we took a walk on one of the many trails near Nana and Papa's house, and the kiddos had such a great time exploring. Dada can't wait for an opportunity to break in our camping gear!!

Charlie wasn't quite as enthusiastic about the hike, but a ride from Uncle Oscar lifted her spirits
Thanksgiving Day did not dissapoint, and the meal was fantastic! I unfortunately don't have any pictures from the meal, I do have one from the UT game that Claire, Evan, and Tommy went to after dinner that's a new Thanksgiving classic:
Hook 'em Horns!
