As much as we are ready to go, it's hard to believe we'll actually be heading out of Hoboken by the end of the month! We've already hit this month running, the Hoboken St. Patricks Day parade and a good-bye party for the kids topped off this past weekend.
The parade is infamous in Hoboken, and many locals get out of town to avoid the hoards of drunked 20-somethings that gather and stumble through the streets starting around 9am (literally). The parade itself is pretty family friendly (j, and we headed out with our neighbors to enjoy some bagpipes and drum bands. We all had a little green on, but Livi had the best outfit with her tinkerbell costume and pink cowboy boots. Oscar had fun playing chicken with his friend James from their dad's shoulders, and Liv's fav part was the pink fire engine. We headed home after the parade and sat on the stoop for a bit to take in the scene. Many a drunken soul wandered by, commented on how cute our kids were, and one even offered Oscar the rest of his green cotton candy. We thankfully intercepted that one!
Then on Sunday we had the going away party for the kids. We had about 15 kiddos running around a gym in Jersey City (The Little Gym actually). They had so much fun, both were ACTIVE participants (doesn't always happen at parties), loved their cakes (I'm quite proud of them myself), got some awesome travelling gifts, and even had a guest appearance from Oscar's teachers!
Ha! A million years ago I was one of those twenty-somethings at the Hoboken St. Patty's Day Parade. Life sure looks a lot different these days.
ReplyDeleteBtw, did you actually MAKE those cakes? If so, consider me VERY impressed.
