Backtracking - Summer travels part 1

Our summer began when the kids and I headed out of Kenya to Austin at the end of June. It was hard to leave Dada but we knew he'd unfortunately be busy really with work with the upcoming election and Dragon would help keep him company!

Now that it's behind us, the travel itself wasn't so bad... No one really slept on the planes, but the overnight at the Sofitel in London was key. Harry hit the bar while the kids thoroughly enjoyed the hamburgers, pizza, and hot chocolate.

We had a great room with a view of the airplanes landing which kept Harry entertained for much of the day. Oscar was in heaven since he had his own TV, and Livi overdosed on Bob's Burgers.

The travel good luck continued, and the big kids got a row of 4 seats to themselves for the flight to Austin the next day, and Harry and I had an extra seat by the windows. I think we were due for some good travel karma after our last trip overseas...

Missy and Charlie met us at the airport and the kids had so much fun hanging out at Nana's and reconnecting with Charlie and Harrison. Amazingly, jet lag was minor except for Harry's early mornings. We powered through, and Harry and I had some nice nap time those first few days...

First popsicle for Harry

Harry mostly slept in his pack-n-play but did prefer to fall asleep snuggled on his cozy new doggie bed from Nana. His stuffed dog is also now his favorite and he can't sleep without him!
On the 4th, we went to Missy and Tommy's neighborhood and enjoyed some ice cream to beat the heat before the sun went down and we watched the fireworks. Harry even made it through the whole show!

The McCormicks took us on some awesome kid focused day trips to help beat the heat. Austin Park and Pizza (with Laser tag!!) and a huge hit with everyone:

Fun at a local splash pad:
Harry loved Charlie!
We were luck to have Aunt Jenny, Uncle Chris, Rosemarie, and Sarah come down for Oscar's birthday weekend and we had such a good time reconnecting and beating the hit in the pool. Oscar had a fabulous birthday, with an extra special trip to iFly with Nana and Aunt Jenny!!

The main event! An apple pie for his 11th birthday!
Before we knew it, it was unfortunately time to leave Austin and head to VA to check out our new home...
