Christmas!!

We were mostly healthy and fortunately able to head to Austin the Saturday before Christmas as planned! The first event of the week was the girls adventure to see the Nutcracker. (The boys had a fun day planned for themselves, and went to see Night at the Museum and took Papa out to lunch at Tommy's restaurant.) Livi loves dressing up and here is her requested photo session before heading out for the main event.

The girls being sweet and silly before hitting the road!

We had amazing seats for the performance and both Livi and Charlie were in awe for the first half. Livi LOVED the costumes and when I asked her favorite, she said all of them. The second half was a little long for the 5 and under crowd, but they kept it together and overall had an amazing time. The pizza we had afterwards was really yummy too!!

We had a few days in Austin before the main event to catch up on some Christmas shopping and spend time with the family. Christmas Eve we headed to the McCormick's and watched a little Christmas Vacation at the garage bar, complete with popcorn machine and multiple screens. Evan's girlfriend Amber was meeting the family for the first time, and held her own even with Medium Oscar leading the family inquisition of asking when she was going to get married and have babies.  He even got Livi in on it and she asked Amber where her marriage ring was! The apple doesn't fall far…

Later that night, the kids set the stage for Santa and his reindeer, complete with milk, cookies, carrots and water. They were so excited, but managed to settle after Nana read The Night Before Christmas and were determined to fall asleep so that Santa could come.

They amazingly slept until 8am Christmas morning and quickly delved into their stockings and presents from Santa. The presents miraculously held them over until the rest of the family arrived to tackle the pile of presents under the tree! I only managed to get a few pictures before the paper and ribbon started flying…

Once the dust settled, the kids had a blast running around the house investigating all of their new toys and taking a dip in the hot tub (although Little Oscar was quite content putting some of his Legos together inside with Mama). Livi also found a big bag, put most of her presents inside, and carried it around the house calling it her Sac of Joy… Here she is showing it off while sporting my new cozy sweater from Aunt Jenny.

The day after Christmas we grabbed the cousins (except Tommy who was unfortunately working) and headed to San Antonio for lunch along the Riverwalk. We also got to meet up with our good friends Carolyn and Jamie from Vermont who we haven't seen in years, and were visiting Jamie's family there. Small world!!

We had one last lunch with the Bould's at the Domain, before Claire had to head back to New York and we had to start packing up for our drive home the next day. We had a wonderful Christmas week and are already looking forward to our next visit this spring as we head out of New Orleans!!
